ABOUT ME
Illustrated Self Portrait
Howdy! I'm a Texan, born and raised! I grew up in a multi-cultural family in a military community which exposed me to much diversity.
My niece, when she was young, used to call me 'Auntie Jelly' because I liked jelly sandwiches at the time. My friends and former colleagues call me JAM (my initials). I like the simple things in life, so "Simply Jelly Jam" seemed fitting as a pen name.
I believe life-long learning and continuous self-improvement are exceptionally important. Because of this belief, I worked in higher education instructional technology for well over 10 years.
I also believe that self-care is important to my health and value of life. I'm a workaholic and often forget to take breaks, which led to some minor health issues a few years ago. I took a hiatus from the workforce (and adulting, obviously) to focus on my own self-care.
I've kept myself occupied with learning new hobbies, improving old skills, spending time with my family and dogs, and enjoying all the simple things in life!
My hobbies and interests include:
-
Laser engraving
-
Painting
-
Polymer clay crafts
-
Resin crafts
-
Journaling
-
Simulation gaming (e.g. SuchArt)
-
Bowling
-
Disney
Apparently I'm not good at the whole adulting thing, but I do invite you to join me in my endeavors as I explore various hobbies, reflect on past experiences, and figure out how to better balance life and happiness.
Hopefully you'll find my stories entertaining or interesting. Who knows? Maybe I can share some stories that you'll find helpful.
Thanks, and have a great day!
