A Dream of a Missing Isetta

Just a story about a missing car I do not own in real life.

Weird dreams are common in my life. I thought I would share my recent dream about a missing Isetta.

In case it's helpful, below are the topics covered in this post:

The Setting

Like most of my dreams, this dream takes place away from home. I was attending an academic or professional training program at a large university. I loved the campus environment and recall feeling bummed about leaving sooner than I wanted.

The dream started with me dropping my dogs off at the doors of a daycare center in the Student Union building. It was not a doggy daycare, but a daycare center for babies and young children.

I waved as my large senior dog, Shadow, and small dog, Rascal, walked into the center with their backpacks on their backs. A lady smiled back at me as she closed the door behind them.

The dream cuts to me stepping into my dark gray Isetta and driving blocks away to another building's parking lot. I exited the vehicle and walked to another building to attend my first class of the day.

I parked closest to the building where my last class of the day took place and walked several blocks to a different building to attend my first class of the day.

The Missing Isetta

After my last class of the day, I walked around the parking lot searching for my Isetta. It was not where I remembered parking it. I made several laps and searched other nearby parking lots in case I was having an off day. Alas, my Isetta was nowhere to be seen.

My Isetta would have been easy to spot among all the traditional sedans, SUVs, and pickup trucks in the parking lots. I was bummed thinking someone walked off with my car. Not broken into and driven off. In my mind, someone carried my small, lightweight car out of the parking lot.

I walked the long distance to the Student Union building to pick-up my dogs. As I was walking out of the daycare center with my dogs looking adorable with their backpacks on, I ran into my boyfriend. (I am single in reality, but I am always in a relationship in my dreams for some reason.) I explained the situation and mentioned that I had yet to call the police to report my stolen vehicle.

My boyfriend told me to wait to make the phone call and offered to check the parking lots again. I agreed. I took my dogs to a table where I setup a tablet for Shadow to watch videos. I set out a bowl of apples mixed with dog treats and another bowl of clean water. I told my dogs to stay and that it would be a while before we went home.

Dream cuts to me standing outside talking to a friend about my missing Isetta. We heard strange noises, specifically metal hitting metal, in the parking lot. We went to investigate just in case.

It turned out to be Rascal inside a pickup truck's engine compartment disassembling it. I yelled at Rascal to stop. He lifted his head, partially covered in grease or motor oil, and gave me a stern look. As soon as I turned my back, he proceeded to tear this stranger's engine apart.

The End of the Dream

Before I could yell at Rascal again, my boyfriend ran over to let me know he found my Isetta. My boyfriend, my other friend, and I walked over to the parking spot where my Isetta was. There were no signs of a break-in. There were no damages to the exterior. There was nothing missing from inside.

My friend said I was pranked for having a weird car. My boyfriend agreed saying someone carried it to another parking spot in a different lot for laughs. I was not laughing. I had plans for that evening with my dogs that I cancelled because I thought I would be dealing with the police about a stolen vehicle case.

Yet, I was relieved that my car was alright. I called for my dogs to come. Shadow arrived first with his backpack on and tablet in his mouth. He stepped into the passenger seat as if everything was fine. At least it seemed like Shadow was having a good day.

Rascal arrived shortly after panting heavily while covered in grease of motor oil. I noticed his backpack was missing. I asked him where it was, and he barked at me as though I was bothering him.

My boyfriend offered to search for the backpack, but then I woke from my weird dream.

My Thoughts

Do I think this dream is sending me a message? If there is a message, I do not care to research or interpret it.

I often view my dreams as a form of entertainment I am watching or experiencing in my subconscious as I sleep. I found the dream about the Isetta entertaining which is why I shared the story.

If anything, my dream comically showed me that my small dog may be willing to destroy a stranger's vehicle.

In all seriousness, Rascal has only destroyed a handful of plush toys in his lifetime. I do not believe he would destroy anything in reality despite how he felt. Rascal will, however, throw a temper tantrum where he will dramatically fall on his side or hide and vocalize his frustrations.

My large dog watches television regularly. There were times in the past when I played a video on a mobile device to keep him entertained when away from home. Shadow watching videos on a tablet in a public setting is not that far from reality.

Being in a relationship is not uncommon in my dreams. My boyfriend, fiancé, or husband is present (or at least exists in my mind) in my dreams. I find this interesting because I am single in real life and have been so for years.

Parking in a lot closes to my last class of a day was something I did regularly when I pursued my Associate's degree at a local community college years ago. It was convenient to have a shorter walk to my vehicle after a long day of walking from building-to-building and class-to-class.

I do not own and have never owned an Isetta in real life. I do, however, own it in the Forza Horizon 5 video game. It is my second favorite vehicle to drive when I am exploring the open world map. It has been a while since I played the game, but I am certain the game is the reason I dreamt of that car. My favorite vehicle in-game is the Peel P50.
