Be a Kid Again Day is July 8th. The day encourages an adult to embrace their inner child. More specifically, it is a great way to celebrate and enjoy the simple things in life.

In case it's helpful, below are the topics covered in this post:

Benefits of Celebrating This Day

Be a Kid Again Day is about forgetting the worries of the world, even if only for a short time. So many adults believe it is important to give up childlike behaviors and take a more serious approach to life. They tend to lose sight of simple joys that make them happy.

While adults have many responsibilities that require them to behave "grownup," research suggests that having a youthful attitude is an important key to happiness. Below are a few benefits many online sources seem to agree on:

  • Spark creativity

  • Re-develop a passion for learning

  • Reduce stress levels

As Figment sings in the Journey Into Imagination ride at WDW's Epcot, "one little spark, of inspiration is at the heart, of all creation." Children often spark their creativity through imagination. They imagine endless possibilities about different scenarios that inspire them.

Even if their imaginations and creativity is beyond reality, children are building their innovative and problem-solving skills in this way. Children tend to think "outside the box" which encourages them to have a more optimistic outlook on things.

Children are also more likely to see the beauty in almost everything. Their innocent and optimistic perspective of life not only sparks their creativity, but it also sparks their curiosity.

With curiosity is a passion for learning. Every learning experience is a new adventure in life. They do not hesitate to ask questions to learn more about the world around them. They are the model lifelong learners who welcome opportunities to expand their knowledge.

By embracing one's inner child, we as adults can re-spark our creativity, develop a newfound passion for learning, and reduce our stress levels for a healthier life. Yes, you read that correctly.

Embracing one's inner child results in greater happiness. Happiness, in turn, increases emotional and physical health and wellness. When we find happiness, we are better able to relax and relieve the mounting pressure life puts upon us.

Perhaps the best way to embrace your inner child is to develop your sense of fun. Find ways that will help you spark creativity, enjoy learning new skills, and reduce your stress levels. Start by thinking about the simple joys in life that make you happy.

My favorite way to embrace my inner child is by coloring. I will grab some alcohol ink markers, a few of my favorite coloring books, and let my creativity take control so I can unwind over the weekend!
