This weekend is a great time to make some cards!

Card Making Day is being celebrated on October 3rd, 2020. Gather your papers, tape, glue, scissors, and other decorative elements to make a greeting card for someone special in your life.

How to Celebrate the Day

Perhaps the best way to celebrate this creative day is to make a card. The question then becomes, what kind of card do you want to make? Something handmade? Something digital?

This weekend may be a good opportunity to learn how to make a card you've never made before. An online search will present you with many informative and creative sites and videos you can check-out. Even if you don't have the time or materials to create your own cards, you could lounge back and enjoy some card making demonstration videos.

Personally, I'll make several fun fold Halloween cards for family and friends. I think they're more interesting than the traditional single fold cards. Some fun folds I've created already were simple, while others took time or some trial and error.

Is there a holiday or special event a handmade card would be good for? If so, you could make a few cards for the special people in your life. Cards that tells someone thank you, get well soon, or thinking of you may be used at any time of the year.

You could also make blank cards with few or no text for when you need to give a card on the fly. Simple images like flowers or leaves could work for any unplanned or last-minute occasions.

Check-Out Some of My Past Card Making Crafts

I'm still a novice at card making and have lots to learn. However, below are links to some of my past blog posts on handmade cards if case you're interested:

Do notecards and postcards count on this day? Sure. Why not?! They're still cards after all.

I also have a YouTube video playlist on cards I've made if you're interested:

My Thoughts

Even if you don't feel like you're skilled or creative enough to make a card, I still encourage you to make a card or two. Do it to learn how to make a card. Do it if for no other reason than to relieve some stress or keep yourself occupied for a short while.

I make cards simply for the joy of it. Most cards end up in a box, but once in a while I make a card that I'm willing to share and send to someone special. Even if that someone special thinks the card is tacky, at least they know I was thinking of them.

What's Next?

I'll make many cards over the next couple months, starting with Halloween cards. If I don't share those creations through a future blog post, be sure to check-out my YouTube channel.
