March is National Craft Month (US). This month is a good excuse to express your creativity through handmade craft projects.

In case it's helpful, below are the topics covered in this post:

About This Month

In 1994, the Craft and Hobby Association, now known as the Association for Creative Industries (AFCI), created National Crafting Month. The goal is to encourage people to express their creativity through a variety of crafts.

Crafting provides mental health benefits for youth and adults. Benefits include:

  • Stress relief,

  • Self-satisfaction,

  • Increased self-esteem,

  • Creative distraction,

  • Self-development,

  • And more!

Personally, I craft handmade items to reduce stress and depression.

Whether a person wants to create something decorative, fashionable, or functional, there is a craft for everyone! Check out 22 Types of Crafts from Simplicable.

People are also encouraged to try a new craft in honor of National Craft Month. If there is something you have been interested in trying, use this month as an excuse to do so.

How to Celebrate

If possible, devote some time to partake in a favorite or new craft this month. You can buy supplies to try your hand at a craft or be creative and make something only using things already available at home.

Take a class to learn new skills, hone your existing skills, and socialize with people who share similar crafting interests as you.

If you are not yet ready to try your hands at a new craft or want to improve in a craft you have already dabbled in, consider researching ideas and information about a craft. There are many sources online and at your local library or bookstore to learn more about what interests you.

What's Next?

To honor National Craft Month, take time to express your creativity through handmade craft projects! Even if you do not have time to craft, you can always research a craft of interest by reading a book or blog post, listening to an audio book or podcast, or watch a video.

What craft will you make next? Comment below to share the next craft project you want to make.

Thanks, and have a great day!
