Help your daughters financially on 6 October and sons on 13 October.
Did you know that National Transfer Money to Your Daughter Day is celebrated each year on 6 October? I did not know this holiday existed until recently. It is something to consider if you want to give your daughter a few bucks to make her day.
In case it's helpful, below are the topics covered in this post:
About This Day
National Transfer Money to Your Daughter Day was founded in 2017 by Zelle, an app that allows a person to digitally transfer money to another person's bank account. Parents are encouraged to transfer money directly to their daughters' bank account.
People transferred money to others long before this holiday was first celebrated a few years ago. The ability to wire transfer money dates to the 1870s when Western Union first offered the service through their telegraph network. People took their money to a telegraph office who delivered, or "wired," the money to another location.
Nowadays, money transfers are digital, making it quick and easy for a person to transfer money to another person.
How To Celebrate
If you are feeling generous, consider giving your daughter a little extra cash today. While you can transfer money to her bank account, there are a few other ways you can give her money:
Give her cash,
Give her a gift card, or
Take her shopping (quality time).
You could also do as my Dad has done my entire adult life and buy things you consider essential for her. This may be a better option is there is something you know she may need or want in her life.
For example, my Dad bought me cookware and a TV stand when I moved into my first apartment and did not have money to buy any furniture.
If your daughter does not have a savings account, you may also consider opening one for her. As a parent, you may be thinking about your child's financial future now.
This is an opportunity to start a savings account for your daughter and teach her about money management, or at least a little bit about handling money to start off with, a skill essential to 'adulting.'
