SJJ Halloween-Themed Videos and Posts

In case you're looking for some of my best (and worst) Halloween-themed content, look no further.

It was brought to my attention that visitors to my personal blog website didn't know I also uploaded YouTube videos bi-weekly. Sometimes the videos aren't featured in a blog post. I thought I'd share links to all my Halloween-themed videos and/or blog posts uploaded since I started this website last year.

Painted Polymer Clay Pumpkins

In celebration of National Pumpkin Day (26 October 2021), I made and painted some polymer clay pumpkins.

Unlike the polymer clay pumpkins I made and painted last year, this year's pumpkins are three-dimensional. I crunched various sized tinfoil into ball shapes and covered them with polymer clay. This made the pumpkins lightweight. It also allowed me to use less polymer clay and save some for future crafts.

I used acrylic paints to decorate the pumpkins. I also used 3D fabric paints to add texture to a couple pumpkins. There are a few pumpkins, but I made other designs I believed turned out nicely. I protected the pieces with a clear acrylic sealer.

"GO Create!" Wooden [Haunted] House

I customized a "GO Create! Build Your Own Wooden House" ($5 USD kit) with acrylic paint, polymer clay, dryer sheet, and more!

My original goal was to simply paint the wooden house after I assembled it and call it a day, but it looked like it lacked a lot of interest.

I let my imagination loose and began adding polymer clay figures (e.g., ghosts, pumpkins, bats, plants, and a giant spider), clear adhesive tinted faux glass, and used dryer sheet spider webs.

I used acrylic paints to color the haunted house, faux windows, and polymer clay figures. I also used 3D fabric paints to add texture in some places.

Laser Engraved 'Witchy' Tile

I recently engraved a ceramic tile with my NEJE Master 2 machine and colored it with alcohol inks. It made a nice tabletop display at the end!

I searched online for a silhouette and found a great witch silhouette available for free download. I coated the tile with cold galvanizing compound, let the compound dry, and then engraved the witch silhouette with my laser engraving machine.

I used alcohol inks to color the witch silhouette and rubbing alcohol (70% in my case) to clean overflow and splatter.

'Boo' Digital Doodle

I completed a "Boo" inspired digital doodle using my Huion Kamvas Pro 12! Yes, I know it's not the best digital doodle out there, but it's how I practice to [hopefully] improve my skills. I thought I'd share my latest art exercise with you!

This doodle was a great way to relieve stress at the end of a long day. I didn't worry about perfection and focused on having fun with the drawing tablet and Adobe Photoshop tools.

Other Halloween-Themed Content

Several Halloween-themed videos uploaded last year, like the ones I linked above, were only uploaded directly to my YouTube channel. However, there were a few blog posts that included links to other videos.

What's Next?

On Thursday, I'll share my November 2021 Journal Design. I have a design in mind that I hope I can convey well in my artwork.
