Now that I own one, I thought about ways to use it.
I recently got a Samsung Galaxy SmartTag2 but had no clue how or where I should use it. After some research and thought, I now see how this could be useful.
In case it's helpful, below are the topics covered in this post:
About the Samsung Galaxy SmartTag2
The Samsung Galaxy SmartTag2 is a small device designed to allow a person to track their belongings. It serves the same purpose as the Apple AirTag and Tile Trackers if you are familiar with those products.
If the device is attached to a belonging that is misplaced or missing, a person can use the associated app to enable tracking to locate the device. The Samsung brand tracker is designed to work with select Samsung products.
Example Belongings to Potentially Track
Below are some examples of personal belongings you could consider tracking with a Samsung Galaxy SmartTag or other tracker:
Keys (house, vehicle, office...)
Pets (collar, harness, carrier...)
Bags (purse, backpack, lunchbox, briefcase, suitcase...)
Transportation (motor vehicle, wheelchair, bicycle, scooter, stroller...)
Tech/Toys (laptop, camera, Bluetooth speaker, drone...)
Miscellaneous (wallet, coat, lanyard, walker, utility cart, rolling dolly...)
When thinking about which personal belonging(s) you want to track, consider its importance to you and probability of it being misplaced, forgotten, or stolen.
Things I May Track
Since I only own one SmartTag device, it took me a while to decide which personal belonging I wanted to attach it to.
I attached it to my keychain that houses my house and vehicle keys. I rarely misplace my keys, but at least I now have an ideally quicker way of finding them when needed.
I would attach the device to my bicycle if or when I get around to repairing it. I get paranoid about my bicycle being stolen, even when I use my bicycle lock. Having the device, while not a theft deterrent, will ease my anxiety a smidge.
The next time I go on vacation, I may attach the device to my backpack or purse. If I am vacationing with my Mom, I would offer to attach the device to her reading glasses case. She seems to frequently misplace or forget it somewhere random, especially when we travel out of state.
I considered attaching it to my RC crawler. If I had FPV (first person view) setup, I could drive my crawler out of sight through the trees at the park. Unfortunately, my FPV camera is not the most reliable. If I am no longer able to rely on the camera while my crawler is out of sight, using the SmartTag would make it quicker and easier for me to locate and retrieve it.
