These are some winter-themed videos that may spark your creativity.
I've challenged myself to upload a winter-themed video daily from December 1st through December 25th. I thought I'd share what I've uploaded thus far in case you'd be interested in trying a few yourself over the holidays.
"Classic" Christmas Greeting Cards
Check out my previous blog post about my thoughts and experience making these ten "Classic" Christmas Cards.
Laser Cut Wood Ornaments
I made my own wood blanks to customize as ornaments. I cut basswood sheets using my NEJE Master 2 (20 watt) blue diode laser machine.
Resin Holly Drink Coasters
Because my 'Spooky' Skull Resin and Paper Coasters turned out so well, I wanted to make myself a set of six winter-themed coasters to use throughout the month of December.
With the exception of a few bubbles I missed, the coasters turned out almost as well as my Halloween-themed coasters from a couple months ago.
Wood Holiday Shadow Boxes
Since I enjoyed making a Mixed Media Floral Shadow Box last April, I wanted to make more with a winter theme. I painted unfinished wood shadow boxes and decorated them with pattern paper, stickers, and fake floral.
Polymer Clay Tree Ornaments
I rolled out some polymer clay and cut out tree shapes with an old cookie cutter. After baking, I customized the trees with a variety of paints. It was a simple and easy art and craft project!
Customized Penguin Advent Calendar
Craft stores and craft sections of other retail stores often have unfinished wood crafts to take home and customize. In this case, I had a penguin unfinished wood calendar from Michaels I customized with a variety of paints, pattern paper scrap, and Mod Podge Dimensional Magic to give the numbers on the blocks some shine.
'Snow Family' Paper Craft
According to Oxford Languages, "decoupage is the art or craft of decorating objects with paper cut-outs." For this project, I used sheets from an old scrapbook paper pad and cut out designs to create a scene.
I used Mod Podge (decoupage glue) to adhere most of the pieces inside a wood panel frame and as a protective coat. I used foam tape to elevate some of the cut out to create the illusion of depth over the background design.
Because I had a lot of emptiness towards the top, I hot glued fake floral for visual interest. I then hot glued a clean Swiffer dry sheet towards the bottom to balance the three-dimensional aspects of the scene.
Winter Shaker Cards
I admit these aren't the best looking handmade greeting cards, but they were a lot of fun to shake when finished!
I use a variety of cardstock paper, pattern paper, stickers, fillers (e.g., glitter, sequins, flakes, etc.), mounting tape, double-sided tape, and clear packing material to make these cards. The clear packing material was thick and sturdy so it wouldn't break under pressure or during mail transit.
Laser Cut and Engraved Gift Tags
I made my own wood blank gift tags to label gifts. I cut basswood sheets using my NEJE Master 2 (20 watt) blue diode laser machine.
I then used the machine to engrave designs onto both sides of each gift tags. I drilled holes and sanded the edges to complete the wood gift tags.
